A brief list of steps to explore mission or even to prepare for it:
- Learn a foreign language
- Travel
- Follow international news and know what's happening in various parts of the world
- Live certain time abroad
- Have a friend from another culture
- Make contact with neighbours from another cutlure
- Adopt a specific ethnic group or coutry and pray for it
- Receive newsletters from a missionary and pray
- Support financially a missionary or a mission project
- Read biographies of missionaries
- Read other motivating books on mission
- Participate in mission training course, teaching, conference
- Study a Bible school or obtain education in theology and mission practice in other way
- Talk to people who have been in mission field about their experience
- Go to short-term mission, for example during summer holiday
